I am curious regarding the researches and documents made about “cancer” here in the Philippines, and how it has collaborated with other countries. With this, I chose to analyze the co-authorship of the organizations so I can see the links among the hospitals, universities, and public institutions that work together in this particular field.
Below is the visualization of the bibliographic data.
In this visualization, there are 19 clusters of collaboration between the 387 organizations. The weights are according to the links thus the biggest cluster, the Department of Internal Medicine, is the organization that worked with the other institutions the most. In my inference, this is because it is a public institution that enables it to collaborate openly with the researches of other universities and organizations.
Moreover, hospitals of different countries are in the visualization, which is just sensible because medical professionals are interested in the studies that involve cancer — such as its possible causes, symptoms, and treatment. It can be observed that there are links between them hence I infer that these health professionals are closely working together with the other practitioners and researchers — to perhaps discover new findings like medicine.
St. Lukes Medical Center — a private health institution based in Quezon City — is the only organization from the Philippines found in the visualization. Hence, I can deduce that St. Lukes collaborates internationally to have information regarding cancer.
However, I cannot infer how the other organizations here in the Philippines work in studying this field, particularly the public institutions. I cannot also automatically presume that these links are exactly similar to other health concerns or diseases.
